You wear a sequence of aligners on a schedule we set, and you can be issued several stages at once so you are not tied to being in town on a particular week. Tell us what your travel pattern actually looks like at the consultation and we will build the plan around it rather than around a standard appointment calendar.
Fewer than with braces, and they are shorter. Rather than regular adjustments, we are checking periodically that your teeth are tracking to plan. Many patients manage with check-ins spaced comfortably apart, which is usually workable even with a demanding travel schedule.
Contact us as soon as you can rather than waiting until you are home. Depending on how far through that stage you are, we will usually advise either moving to your next aligner early or going back to the previous one to hold your position until you return. The reason to call promptly is that the teeth begin to drift once nothing is holding them, and a few days makes a difference.
Yes, they present no issue at security. Keep them in your hand luggage rather than a checked bag, along with your next set if you are carrying one. Checked luggage goes astray often enough that it is not worth the risk of being separated from them mid-trip.
Rinse them whenever you take them out and brush them gently with a soft brush. Use cool or lukewarm water only, never hot, as heat distorts the plastic and a warped aligner will not fit or work.
